On the trail this morning by 8:20. Another beautiful, sunny day! First downhill to creek crossing, then uphill towards the ridge overlooking Moraine Park. We took a break at Mystic Lake, a very pretty spot. The downhill to Moraine Park was steep, but thankfully short. Our knees and toes were grateful. We stopped for lunch at a very nice boulder and were entertained by frolicking marmots. This place should be called Marmot Park instead! The rest of our day was all downhill. On the way, we met several parties going clockwise, most of whom started at Longmire. After we passed Dick Creek camp, the trail passed very close to Carbon Glacier and was very rocky and tough on our poor tootsies. We reached the suspension bridge over Carbon River and our camp was just a bit further. Two days down and eight to go - will the weather hold out?
