911 RS - RSR - IROC Replica / Project Race Cars

In this photo gallery you will see a variety of RS, RSR race cars and several other 911 projects, each very unique in their interpretation with some truly making an effort to NOT deviate from the RS/RSR Porsche factory specifications.

The RS/RSR projects that 'I personally' consider worthy of the label 'replica' or 'clone' are those projects that are truly faithful to the 'recreation' of the respective 911 RS/RSR factory model. For example; it will not be fair to those individuals that spent tenths of thousands making sure their RS/RSR projects are truly genuine to also include those other projects with normally aspirated 911 engines, street-suspension, late seats, wrong seat-rails, dashboard and instruments, an installed radio/stereo, 7"/8" Fuchs instead of the 9"/11" Fuchs or the correct center-locks, wrong interiors, etc., etc., to be in the same 'replica' or 'clone' category group. Once again, I don't personally like to 'dilute' the meaning of the words 'replica, clone or recreation'.

Hi, I was looking at the pics of 911 460 9029 - great looking car, but what puzzles me is the history. If you look at John Starkey's books on the RS RSR etc., the history seems to change over the years. If this car is the 1974 12th placed LeMans Nageotte/Picard car, then Starkey states that it was destroyed at LeMans in 1975. So, this begs the question, 'what is this car ?'

Hi

My name is Joseph, my team Staedtler, and have a "replica" with all the original features of a Porsche 911 3.0 RSR factory.
Currently, in Europe it is impossible to harmonize with FIA papers a classic, not incorporated, in full, original features, which in 1974/1975, Porsche Motorsport, homologous and mounted in RSR versions of three liters.
My car is set up, circuit currently suspensions, engine, gearbox ......., but also have a softer suspension for rallying and mountain and another gearbox with short 7-31 group, both with corresponding, oil cooler.

Congratulate you for this wonderful collection, the Porsche 911 3.0 RSR that remain today.
If you want to send me photos of the work done, to get a unit, identical to the original, with great pleasure, I send pictures for the database. A database wonderfull and very interesting.

The former owner of the unit (replica) that I own, have belonged to Julio Gargallo, in 1974, purchased an original production.

Hi, I am almost finishing a 2 year proyect of a RSR replica, I have the correct 15" 9&11s fuchs, originals. The engine that I have on the car is an ANDIAL 3.2 ltr twin plug, but I am looking for the right engine with the right fuel injection with tall stacks. If you know about one please contact me.

Hi,
I have a 1970 911 that I want to convert to a RS/RSR. I bought a pair of '74+ fenders with 9" flares for a very good price. If I want to use a '69-'73 RS front bumper I would need one that could accomodate the 9" flares, or I would have to use an RSR bumper. Problem is that the '74+ fenders are missing the turn signal light box. I have been looking around for this and while some folks say that they are considering manufacturing this part, no one is yet doing so. the other option is to make one. I wouldn't mind trying to do this if I could find some donor fenders. I really do not want to cut up perfectly good stock fenders for this if at all possible. Therefore, i am looking for a couple of early fenders that are more or less ready for the scrap pile except for this section. Does anyone have something like this. or any other recommendations about this whole thing? I am a novice at this so my questions may seem basic, but my enthusiasm is not.

Please do email me photos of your RSR project so I can include it here as well. I don't have any leads on a 'slide-valve' induction system. The last I had was a reproduction from ANDIAL which I already sold to Gunnar Racing here in the U.S.

Also, please provide me details on your "Twin-Plug Distributor Conversion" kit so I can include it in the technical section of this website along with your pricing and vendor information.

I have made also a Replica RSR 3.0 with a Twin Plug engine. A mechanical injection system is in project. I need there for a slide valve system. Can anybody help me to find one?

Hi Armando,

Just love your enthusiasm for these great early Porsche racers – it was an amazing era for Porsche and GT racing and its fantastic that these great cars are finally getting the recognition they so deserve.

I remember in my 20s at Brands Hatch in the pits watching Charles Ivey taking apart the slide throttle assembly on his RSR during the race interval on a cold October afternoon. When I asked what the problem was he muttered “the bloody throttle is sticking open again” whilst he observed, rather frustratingly, the bearings scattered all over the place on the pristine garage floor. He managed to find all the bearings and eventually ran in the race, finishing 3rd. This was about the time when many privateers were removing now very rare factory race items and employing new trends. I remember many original cars being converted to Weber Alpha injection etc.

As far as my car goeshttp://www.pbase.com/slidevalve911rsr/911rsr_project_cars_73_rs_garry_stockton_911classic it has taken a back seat for a while. Dave (who is the clever one) has been flat out on all types of projects but this year we decided to press on - having got together most of the parts we needed. You should see updates on a fairly regular basis now.

I had my steel front and rear arches fabricated using templates taken from the Kremer Samson 2.8RSR, during that time we were able to document the factory special upgrades. I will ask Dave about the gears, the calipers were a great find. Keep up the great work.
