CAMBODIA is a wounded country, as it has always been associated with wars and poverty. Fortunately, there is a precious GEM in Cambodia - the Angkor Wat, which together with the temple ruins in the Siem Reap (¾æ²É) area, form remnants of the capital city of the Angkorian era Khmer Empire (°ª´Ö¤ý°ê) that existed between 9th-12th centuries; and represent the pinnacle of the ancient Khmer architecture, art and civilization.

Angkor temples truly justify the name of one of the 'Wonders of the World'. For us, they are not only complexes of art and architecture, but also 3-dimensional history books telling stories and fairies of ancient Khmer which was once a dominant power in this part of the world.

Visiting Siem Reap is not a difficult task for self-travellers. There would be hundreds of motor-bikes, tuk-tuks and taxis queuing outside hotels and temples waiting to be your chauffeur-cum-guide. We were lucky to meet Nab, a very nice guy who is punctual and honest. Friendly countries always have friendly people!
