Ta Prohm (¶ð´¶Û¼q) is a quiet and sprawling monastic complex which is only partially cleared of jungle overgrowth. Intentionally left partly unrestored by French archaeologists, massive fig and silk-cotton trees have grown from towers and corridors. This temple was one of Jayavarman VII's first major temple projects and was dedicated to his mother. Ta Prohm was originally constructed as a Buddhist monastery and was enormously wealthy in its time, boasting control of over 3000 villages, thousands of support staff and vast stores of jewels and gold.
We find Ta Prohm particularly charming for its mixture of nature, history and culture. Really breathtaking!!
