In December of 2014, I started a remodel on our barn. It had pretty much served its purpose since we moved in back in 2007, but it has had its issues as well. Doors were rotting, not a lot of thought or care was put into the electric install, it wasn't completely sealed or insulated correctly, and overall just somewhat of a dreary, moldy structure. We have used it to store tools and garden equipment, but not much else because it isn't climate controlled and various rodents, birds and insects have taken up residence. While handy at little jobs around the house, I've never taken on a project like this. I'm sure there will be a lot of learning experiences, and it will probably take quite a long time, but we will see what I am able to accomplish.
The barn has a 1/2 loft in it which is under-structured. One of the goals will be to increase the structural integrity of the existing loft, and also expand it to form essentially a complete second floor. There will be new doors, windows, insulation, inside walls, work benches/cabinets/shelving, electric and of course the finishing touches of painting, etc.
