Faith is more than a job to me. It's who I am, first and foremost.
I'm a 'believer' and that hopefully shapes everything else I do ~ including taking photos!
So once or twice a year I put up an image that reflects that fundamental part of me.
And what better time to do it than 'Easter'?

Have a great Christmas fellow Pbasers!
It's a great pleasure to wish all my good friends on Photobase the very best of Christmasses! It's been an interesting year which more-or-less
began with Carole coming home from hospital after a five month stay and four courses of chemotherapy. Now she's back to around 90% of her
former health and strength, with every possibility of being back to 100% within the next six months or so.
So our Christmas will be very different this year. Rather than just a few hours at home on Christmas Day, she will be able to join in all the family
times together. So, as you can imagine, we are so grateful!
Thank you so much for all your kind and encouraging comments this past year. Thank you, too, for the inspiration that your photos
continue to give me! May 2014 may be a great year for you and all those dear to you.

Me as Groucho
This past Saturday night the Fun Band I played with did a
charity concert for the local Rotary Club ~ playing for
the best part of two hours and covering 30 songs from the
60's to the present day! It was hard work, but great fun!
And it was a fancy dress evening, with a 'movies' theme,
so I decided to join in! One of my own band members
barely recognised me!

Carole's home!
Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to thank you all for your warm concern for Carole over the course of the past four months.
I'm very happy to tell you that she has now been officially discharged from the haematology ward and is back at home having completed her three courses of chemotherapy as an 'in-patient'. She now has to return to hospital for regular blood checks and has one final injection of chemo as an 'out-patient'. She will then have a final biopsy to see how effective the treatment has been. The consultant she saw today said that they were very hopeful of curing her.
This means I am now her primary carer ~ so those of you are used to praying may want to step up your prayers for her! ;o)
Thanks again for all the messages of support! You can't beat Pbase for photo-based friendship!

Happy Christmas everyone!
Dear friends, my apologies for my recent lengthy absence from Pbase. There have been a number of good reasons for this, but I hope to be back posting new images very soon! I have really missed seeing your work here on Pbase and I look forward to visiting your latest galleries very soon.
One of the major reasons for my absence has been my wife's continuing hospitalisation and the inevitable pressure that has put on my time. I reckon I've driven upwards of 3,500 miles visiting her over the course of the past three and a half months. It's been a long haul! But the good news is that she's doing really well! She just finished her final course of chemotherapy and everything is looking very positive at this moment. All being well she will leave hospital around 17th January and will then just have a one-off visit to the clinic for a final injection, which will mark the end of her treatment. She has been amazingly bright and positive throughout this difficult period and I want to pay tribute both to her courage and to God's faithfulness.
So that's the latest, dear friends. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and prayers, all of which are greatly appreciated by us both.
I hope that you and your loved ones have a wonderfully happy and peace-filled Christmas and I wish you all the very best for 2013.

First time out
Just a quick note to say that I actually got out of my house this past Saturday for the first time in five days! I felt a little better and just needed to breathe some fresh air, so I went to one of my favourite local places ~ Sherborne. What a fabulous abbey church they have there! I've shot this scene before but this time the whole place was decorated for their Harvest Thanksgiving services ~ hence the flowers at the front.
For those of you who have been following Carole's progress, I'm happy to say that she has also had a better couple of days, for which we're truly grateful! She still has a long way to go, but all the signs are positive and she is beginning to show some real signs of improvement after the chemical battering of last week. Tomorrow evening I am hoping to see her for the first time in a week.
Thanks for your interest, thoughts and prayers everyone. They are much appreciated by us both.

Keeping calm!
Just a quick note to thank you all for your kind thoughts and best wishes in respect of Carole. Your support and words of encouragement have been overwhelming and we're truly grateful for every positive thought and earnest prayer.
She's now halfway through her first bout of chemo and is doing as well as can be expected. The good news is that our son and daughter-in-law, (who we were meant to be flying out to visit next Monday), have managed to get tickets to fly over here. That's really given Carole a lift and we can't wait to see them again! She's got a long way to go, but we remain positive about the final outcome.
I chose this image because it's a picture of calm and, despite all that's going on, that's truly how we feel ~ thanks to a wonderful team of medics, loving families, a huge number of supportive friends, and the gentle embrace of an ever-present God.

Carole
This is just to let you know that I'm unlikely to be doing much on Pbase for a while as my beloved wife, Carole, has just been diagnosed with leukaemia (APML). As you can imagine, this has turned our world upside down! However, I'm happy to say that her chances are good and she is in excellent hands, but it's likely to take 6 months or more to beat the illness. Needless to say, it's Carole's recovery that will be my top priority over the course of the coming months and that means being at the hospital every day for at least the next 4 weeks ~ which is going to knock a huge hole in Pbase time!

On their way, 2012 Olympic sailing, Weymouth
Having been born and raised in Weymouth, Carole and I decided to visit our old hometown today in order to soak up some of the Olympic atmosphere. Weymouth and Portland are hosting the many sailing races that are part of London 2012 and it was great to be able to get some shots of one of those races. The 80-400 came in really useful and the bright sunny day meant that I could do without a tripod and shoot handheld.
It was a brilliant day and it was good to see the town so full of people. The seafront has enjoyed something of a face-lift and we had no trouble at all getting in and out of the town. All-in-all, an exceptional day out!
Easter 2012
Hi everyone,
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who visits my galleries and, especially, those who take the time to leave votes and such generous comments. Every one is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I would also like to wish you a hope-filled and joyous Easter. There was a news item on a U.K. news bulletin about a clergyman who was standing in a queue at a supermarket check-out, when he heard the person in front of him say: "Why have so many Easter cards got crosses on them? What's that got to do with Easter?"
Hopefully YOU know why there's a cross and, also, why both the cross and the tomb are empty!

An awkward choice of lunch!
I'm sure this crab would have made an excellent snack, if only the juvenile gull could have found a way to swallow it! But the crab's defence was resolute, turning this way and that, making it nigh on impossible for the gull to get it down!
I didn't have time to see the battle out, but methinks the brave little crab might have got away with it and lived to see another day!
