Past Cameras

Here you see photos taken by cameras we don't own any longer. Here is a history of the cameras we've owned before & own currently:
† Nikon Coolpix 775 (Aug 2003). 2 megapixel, 3x zoom. Got us started

† Nikon Coolpix 5700 (May 2004). First "serious" digital, though slow in operation. 5 megapixels, 8x zoom, RAW ability, a "serious" camera
† Sony Cybershot DSC-P50 (July 2004). A "casual" everyday camera to supplement the 5700. 2 megapixels, 3x zoom
† Nikon Coolpix 5400 (Oct 2004). Replaced the Sony. A "serious" compact to supplement the 5700. 5 megapixels, 4x zoom, RAW ability,
a "serious" camera
† Canon 300D/Digital Rebel (Nov 2004). A HUGE, HUGE step-up. A digital SLR, replaced the 5400 (and the 5700 eventually, too). Now I have
single-lens-reflex control & speed in the digital realm. A tremendous step-up, and for a killer price at the time
† Canon A20 (May 2005). For only $20, got a 2 megapixel 3x zoom for "everyday" snaps after selling the 5700 to buy a car. Ended up giving it
to Amber, a daughter of a teenage-friend of ours, not long afterwards
† Canon S50 (July 2005). Having sold the A20, got this to backup the 300D/Digital Rebel. 5 megapixel, 3x zoom, RAW ability,
a "serious" camera in a small package
† Nikon D50 (Sept 2005). Replaced the 300D/Digital Rebel with a Nikon equivalent, my favorite brand. Similar image quality
and versatility, but much quicker operation. I still own this camera
† Nikon Coolpix 5700 (Nov 2005). Sold the S50 and reacquired this old favorite to backup the D50. Sold it barely
a month later for something more compact
† Canon S400 (Jan 2006). For more "compact" situations. 4 megapixel, 3x zoom, VERY small.
† Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 (March 2006). Replaced the S400, which focused too slowly. This one had 5 megapixels, 3x zoom, much faster operation,
and a wonderfully large 2½" LCD. Sold it in May, though, when dust got into it, a 2nd sample reacquired
in July also developed these symptoms, and one of us dropped it & broke the screen, giving us
a perfect reason to upgrade to the...
† Sony H1 (Oct 2006). Perfect "everyday" backup to the "serious" Nikon D50. 5 megapixels, 12x zoom (yes, 12x, yes, all optical) and
it's image stabilized, large 2½" LCD, and no "dust" issue like the W1. Quick in operation, too.
