Canon Powershot S400

The Canon Powershot S400, a really tiny (3.4 x 2.2 x 1.1 in) "carry-everywhere" camera that is still a respectable 4 megapixels in resolution and, contrary to what current "wisdom" says nowadays--pulls this off using Compact Flash for the memory card instead of Secure Digital. (Click here and here to see just how tiny it is.) A model I've handled before and always wanted due to its extreme compactness and yet very respectable image quality.

On Dec 22 2005 I made a deal to get one at $145 with 3 batteries, car charger, and 256 CF card. Got it 1-4-2006. (Yes, I sold the excellent Coolpix 5700 to do this, but having been used to D-SLRs we need something else for "serious" usage to complement the D50 for my wife to use.) However, we both still have many problems getting it to focus if you zoomed in any at all indoors even in good lighting. For that reason & in the interest of getting a better movie mode, on Feb 6th 2006 we sold this for $150 and got a Sony Cybershot DSC-W1.
