On October 16th 2004, I picked up a Nikon Coolpix 5400, which was necessary because my wife was using the Nikon Coolpix 5700 so much I could barely use it. (By this time we only had the 5700, had sold "point & shoot" cameras--the "fun" ones--to get this one, which presumably could do both.) The wide-angle, manual controls, portability and photo quality of the 5400 really appealed to me. I had it only a week, though, as I managed to make a deal on a D-SLR very soon afterwards for only $150 more. But for the week I had it, I got quite a few nice photos out of it.
