In 1951, the Long Island University Board of Trustees purchased the 177 acre estate formally known as Hillwood for $200.000 and established the C.W. Post Campus. The new college was named for the cereal tycoon, Charles William Post.
His daughter, Marjorie Merriweather Post, mother of actress Dina Merrill, resided at Hillwood from 1921 to 1951. The Tudor-revival mansion now serves as an administration building for the school. Learn more at http://www.liu.edu/CWPost/About/History
