The Yellow-browed Warbler breeds in the Siberian taiga and as far west as the Pechora River, migrating south east to winter in SE Asia. However, it appears in surprisingly high numbers each autumn making it the most common rarity in Scotland - a contradiction in terms ! The northern isles especially turn up large numbers of these birds most years but both 2013 and 2014 produced exceptionally high numbers.
