In September 2014 I made another visit to Fair Isle and Shetland again on a trip organised by Shetland Wildlife. We encountered some rather gloomy misty weather on Fair Isle and some rather stormy days on Shetland - much as you would expect for Scotland at this time of year. As for the previous year, the hoped for mega rarities did not turn up - until after we had left ! However, on Fair Isle there were lots of more common but still very interesting birds about, the highlights being Pallid Harrier and Bluethroat. On Shetland two lifers for me were Pechora Pipit and Arctic Warbler. Other interesting birds Subalpine Warbler and loads of Barred and Yellow-browed Warblers. Many thanks to Hugh Harrop and Judd Hunt of Shetland Wildlife see http://www.shetlandwildlife.co.uk
