The Chiffchaff is one of our commonest summer migrants arriving in Scotland in April and lingering on into October. Birds in the northern isles at this time of year are almost certainly Scandinavian breeders heading south. We encountered good numbers of them on Fair Isle and on the Shetland mainland.
