<< Reminders of the Ice Storm- 2014 >>
I thought I would post just a few more of the scenes I shot during our ice storm, soon to be a fading memory.
<< 35th Cottage Grove Stearman Fly-in >>
On Saturday, August 3rd, I visited the Cottage Grove Airport/Jim Wright Field for the 35th Annual Jim Wright Memorial Stearman Fly-In. This is also the home of the Oregon Aviation History Center. There were fewer Stearmans here this year, but there were some beautiful kit airplanes there as well as the Great Lakes biplane that was my favorite. The pilot shopped at the airport to refuel.
<< Graduation Photos - Max >>
Max and his family made a choice of graduation photos. They said it was hard to choose, they liked them all. :) I thought I would post them for their family and others to see. Here are some of the shots they picked.
<< The Graduate - Alex >>
I did a photo shoot Saturday with Alex, who will be graduating from the University of Oregon next month. He and his Mom had some shots they wanted to get and we went with the flow on others. Here you see some of those we got. Congratulations, Alex!
<< Mikayla's Graduation >>
Our oldest daughter's girl, Mikayla, graduated from high school on Saturday. Grandson Levi and I traveled to Milwaukie, OR, for te graduation. Carol couldn't go because of health. Lighting in the room used was tough, directly overhead. I shot without flash, using my little V1. I could have done a better job. But I got some acceptable images. Congratulations, Mikayla!
<< Eugene's Earth Day - 2013 >>
This is only a glimpse of all that was going on. I didn't shoot the several booths set up there, nor all of the crowd. But everyone was having fun, and the music was great. See my 4/20/13 PAD here - http://www.pbase.com/fotabug/image/149780373
<< Marian And Ken's 50th Anniversary >>
We traveled to Terribonne for the 50th anniversary of my sister, Marian, and her husband, Ken. Had a great time and thought I would share some snaps.
<< Just a Little Carnival >>
Some photos of just a little carnival set up about six blocks from our home.
<< Fun with horses >>
My wife and I enjoy going with our daughter and granddaughter to the stables where they board their horses. They have a great place to ride and exercise the horses. We sometimes go along to shoot some pictures and enjoy the time together.
<< Komen Race For The Cure >>
A few images of participants in the Race For The Cure, primarily my daughter, Katy.
<< Our 50th Wedding Anniversary - Looking Back Over 50 Years >>
NOTE: best if the slideshow option in the upper right corner is used.
Carol and I have enjoyed our 50th wedding anniversary, May 13th. A party was given by our daughters and we appreciated the family and friends who were able to attend. Some pictures of the event are followed by many from the past, of us and other family. These are some of those used in a slide show at the party.
<< We Visit the Meadows & Lake Kathleen Railroad >>
On Friday, April 27, my brother-in-law and I visited the Meadows & Lake Kathleen Railroad about 65 miles from home. The owner, Ray Robinson, is a great guy and a wonderful host. He took us for a ride by 'streetcar' over the railroad's line. Afterward, we walked the tracks and shot pictures. It was a wonderful place. Here is his website - http://www.peak.org/~kmr3/M&LKRailroad/
The M&LK RR is a private RR, but occasionally the owner gives rides to folks who contact him on his web site and have a genuine interest in the railroad. Anyone who loves railroading would find the ML&K a real treat.

<< Ems Vs Spokane Class A Baseball >>
I took a grandson and granddaughter to the Eugene Emeralds' game against Spokane to try for some photos for Jack Hoying of his cousin's boy (Jared Hoying), who plays for Spokane (#15). I managed to get some shots but had unsurmountable obstacles I wasn't able to overcome, namely the backstop net we were not far behind. I found that an 18-200 Nikkor worked fine except for being a slow lens and thus had more depth of field than I wanted. What would have worked great is my 80-200 f/2.8 Nikkor shot wide open. This was my first attempt at shooting sports. I learned a lot. :)
<< The Willow Creek Model RR At Antique Powerland Museum >>
When we visited the Oregon Great Steam Up in Brooks, OR, we enjoyed watching the model trains on the Willow Creek RR. Here's a few shots of some of the trains.

<< THE PLEIN AIR PAINTERS OF LANE COUNTY >>
The Plein Air Painters of Lane County met for an outdoor painting session this afternoon on Skinner Butte.
And I was there to shoot a few pictures of them.
Here is their interesting blog site - http://pleinaireugene.blogspot.com/
I hope to join them again when they use another of Eugene's parks for their outings.
<< Oldtimers' Day - Mohawk Grange >>
<< Lane County Fair - 2006 >>
We enjoyed a day at the Lane County Fair. So much to see, so little time.
<< A Visit to The Oregon Air and Space Museum >>
This gallery shows some of the many items housed at the Oregon Air and Space Museum at the Eugene Airport - http://www.oasm.info/ It was extremely difficult to get shots of the aircraft as it is all crowded into a small building. There are some fine examples of well-known and not so well known planes, both actual aircraft and models skillfully crafted. It would be so nice if the displays could be located in a much larger building where each could be viewed and photographed without so much around it. Still, it is a most enjoyable place to visit.
<< A Visit to the Oregon Aviation Historical Society >>
Carol and I were invited to visit the Oregon Aviation Historical Society in Cottage Grove, Oregon and we appreciated very much the kindness of Carol Skinner, archivist for the Historical Society in taking us on the tour. She also showed us much of the Tex Rankin collection that has been donated to the society. This is perhaps the largest collection of Tex Rankin memorabilia in the US. It was of special interest to Carol, because Tex was her great uncle. We also saw photos of her grandfather, Dudley, one of the three Rankin brothers.
All of the photos in this gallery that are copies of prints were made from pictures in the Tex Rankin archives. Again, we are grateful to Carol Skinner and the Oregon Aviation Historical Society for the tour. The historical society hopes to build a larger building next door to better display all that is in their collection. They are now not able to display but a portion of it in the building they have. It would be great of others come to their aid financially so that such a display center can be constructed.
<< Airport Displays >>
Five of my photos are currently on display at the Eugene Airport. I tried getting some shots of them for posterity. It is very difficult lighting. I did what I could.
<< Family Reunion >>
Descendants of Lory and Esther Miller family reunion.
Hap and Lory Huffman residence in Winchester, Oregon on August 15, 2009.
We hope this will be the first annual family reunion.
It was great fun to see everyone and get reacquainted.

<< 31st Annual Stearman Fly-in >>
The Oregon Aviation History Center in Cottage Grove was the site of the 31st annual Stearman Fly-In the first weekend in August. Lloyd Stearman was a top designer of aircraft in the 20's and 30's. The Stearmans were used as trainers near the beginning of WWII. A slideshow by Kevin Clark, Register-Guard photographer, is available online at http://blogs.registerguard.com/mm/index.php/kevin-clark/comments/stearman-fly-in/

Dorris Ranch Living History Festival
<< 2007 Living History Festival >>
Held at Willamalane Park's Dorris Ranch, this event is like a trip back in time. Part of the event was a reenactment of of a Civil War battle. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

<< A Great Evening Out >>
Carol and I were invited to a benefit dinner/auction for Eugene Parks. It was a wonderful way to spend our 48th anniversary.
Since I get so much pleasure out of the parks I was happy to offer some photos for auction.
Ten prints were made of one image - http://www.pbase.com/fotabug/image/108215917. They went to individuals who bid $100 each for them.
What a fun way to support the parks, and we had a wonderful dinner and an enjoyable time. We wish to thank Eugene Parks, and especially Carrie P, for the invitation.
Carrie, you are a special person and Carol and I appreciate so much that you thought of us.

My First and Only National Magazine Cover!
I am excited! The latest issue of 'Mass Transit' magazine has one of my photos on the cover.
This is an image of the cover, shot the photo with a Nikon D2x and Nikkor 18-200 lens.
<< Prints for show at Mohawk Grange >>
I tried to make a photo record of the prints we have made for displaying at the Mohawk Grange but it was an almost impossible task. I tried to make the photo look as much like the print to be displayed as I could but just couldn't get the colors, etc, exact. It's the best I can do and gives me thumbnails I can use for reference. That was the reason for making these copies.
