April is a month of uncertain weather and promises of things to come. On the Island we look forward to the weather warming, the flowers blooming and the inevitable fact that we'll soon have to begin mowing our lawns again. Many of our birds are nesting now and the young will begin to appear at the end of April or early in May. Hal Borland summed up the month best in the following, "No Winter lasts forever, no Spring skips its turn. April is a promise that May is bound to keep, and we know it."
