Topping Little Haystack
At 4800 feet, Little Haystack ranks as the 23rd highest mountain in New Hampshire.
It is not included on the AMC list of NH 4000 footers however, due to its less than 200 foot prominence.

Shining Rock Spur
The sun was beginning to make its presence felt on what would turn out to be a hot and humid day, even on the peaks where it is normally quite cool in summer.
Shining Rock Spur
Shining Rock is located just below the treeline of Little Haystack.

Franconia-Ridge
The patch of white on the far right mountain slope is Shining Rock Spur. The Falling Waters trail comes up alongside this spur on the way to Little Haystack (4800 ft). Along the ridge, center, is Mt Lincoln (5082 ft) and to the left, Mt Lafayette (5249) with a white cloud behind the peak.
Mt Lafayette is in fact the higher peak despite this particular view.
This panorama was made from the Old Bridle Path which descends along the slope to the left and out of the frame.
