Dubai Deserts

Some desert experiences in Dubai.

Dune bashing is riding the dunes in a 4 wheel drive, the main activity in the deserts in and around Dubai. Flying across the dunes is an exhilarating experience, especially if coupled with a sunset barbecue or camping overnight. The silence of the desert at night, lit by the moon and a thousand stars is unforgettable, as is watching the sun setting behind the mountains and sunrise creeping across the dunes. The landscape of the deserts is varied, at some points the dunes are a wonderful red colour.

Dubai also offers hot air balloon rides. These were taken at dawn on an April morning, starting at Al Awir, then floating across some quarries before landing on the other side.

This gallery will be continuously updated each time I go out to the desert.
