Two historic post towns on the former Nakasendō - the mountainous route between Kyōto and Edo - Magome and Tsumago sit in the rural Kiso Valley in southern Nagano Prefecture, close to the border with Gifu-ken. Restored from near complete dereliction in the 1960s and '70s, the two villages have retained more of an air of old Japan than almost anyplace else in the country.
The first few shots date from a visit in May of 2004, while the rest are from May of 2006.

Comments (good or bad but hopefully good), tips & suggestions from professional photographers, amateurs, & guests are very much appreciated.
