Hachinohe 八戸

The current terminus of the mainline Tōhoku Shinkansen (though this is set to change in December, 2010), Hachinohe is now a somewhat humdrum industrial city on the eastern edge of Aomori Prefecture. Once a castle town under the Nanbu Clan, it has seen a recent excavation and reconstruction of the even older Ne-jō, a castle dating to the end of the Kamakura Period.
