The Ligurian Coast is one of my favorite places in the world. I've been fortunate to visit this timeless area of the Italian coast on numerous occasions, and these Cinque Terre Images are a collection of my work and travels. From Riomaggiore, my usual home base, to the Via dell'Amore (the walk of love) that looks back on Manarola, to Corniglia, to Rick Steve's favorite town, Vernazza, and up the coast to Monterosso al Mare, these five fishing villages are idealic. The wine of this area is famous, and the pesto and seafood is worth the wait. But if you want to see the Cinque Terre the way it was, awaken before sunrise and watch the locals preparing for the day. You can grab a hot pastry and watch the fishermen unload their nightly catches. You can stroll the streets of Vernazza and Riomaggiore and hear the early sounds of morning. Walk to the harbor and watch the sun rise over the rocky hills and light up the Mediterranean sea in pastel shades of pink, blue and orange.
