The Cinque Terre is one of my favorite places in the world. I backed through Italy after college and found myself falling in love with these magical fishing villages perched along the rocky coast of Italy. This image of Manarola is a panorama and a view of a typical summer afternoon. The five villages of the Cinque Terre now depend mainly on tourism, wine, and fishing for their existence. However, if you can visit in the off season, you'll find you have the area to yourself, along with the locals. And you might even be invited to try homemade wine in a cellar like we were on one visit in March.
