Monthly Challenge - Monochrome
My take on this Challenge will be a gritty, grainy look at some of the sides of Aberdeen not usually seen. The intent will be to try and recreate the style of images that I used to enjoy so much taking in my Black & White film days and creating in the darkroom. So in memory of HP5 and Tri-X I will shoot mainly at high ISO (usually 1600) and adopt a high contrast approach in processing. The images will be captured in RAW, in colour, imported to Lightroom for initial processing and conversion to B&W with the final processing/re-sizing for the web performed in Photoshop Elements. All of the images in this gallery will receive the same basic processing steps that will replicate what could be achieved with on camera filters and dodging/burning and printing on high contrast paper.
