Day 1: White Grass Ranger Station to Upper Death Canyon
After spending a comfy night at Jackson Lake Lodge, we left our car at South Jenny Lake and had Teton Taxi take us to the Death Canyon TH. It had snowed overnight, but the temps weren't too bad and we started off - glad to be on the trail. It was mostly cloudy, and the mountains were obscured about halfway up. Naturally, the higher we went, the more snow there was and the colder it became. We reached our campsite at 3:20 and by then, it was very cold. We set up, did chores, ate dinner, and crawled into the tent to keep warm until bedtime. Sitting around outside enjoying the evening was not going to be an option tonight! Total distance today was 8.8 miles, with about 2300' elevation gain and 400' loss.
