Leinster Bay, St. John, June 3 and 4, 2009 Numerous web-zines provide details about St.John's visitors attractions as well as about its history, but their life span seem very limited. This will stay, and maybe will be expanded by someone with the time: Leinster Bay and the history of Annaberg. Apparently land above the bay changed hands several times, even the bay itself was renamed a few times. The most dramatic change came 1867, well after the end of slavery, when the plantation was abandoned by its owner, and later purchased by a former slave, George Francis. His son, Carl Francis took over 1899. Later he was elected to be the person to raise US flag 1917 after the islands were purchased by USA from Denmark. |
