Ducks and Geese

Ducks and geese, possibly surprisingly, are not that common - with two exceptions.

The Egyptian goose seems to be becoming even more common and can be found on rivers and dams anywhere in the Park. Its irritating call is all too often heard!
The white-faced duck is the other common species which can also be seen anywhere in the Park. Numbers rise during wet summers.

The knob-billed (or comb) duck is a summer migrant though some stay all year. Wet years see larger numbers.
The black duck is described as a fairly common resident but I have only seen them on a couple of occasions. Mostly seen on the larger rivers.
The red-billed teal is a rare migrant in the Park (though common elsewhere)
The largest goose in the region is the Spur-winged goose - an uncommon visitor to the Park.
