FIRST SIGHTING RECORD IN ADAMS COUNTY, PA

White Ibis are normally found along the Atlantic coast from North Carolina south
to Florida and the Gulf coast. They are rare but regular visitors to parts of
Pennsylvania but this Ibis represents a record first sighting in Adams County.

Found on August 1, 2008 by Mike Weible as he drove across the bridge on Marsh Creek.
An amazing feat in itself since the immature bird, still in dark brown plumage,
was about 75 yards down stream and wading in shade.
Marsh creek is only about 30 feet wide and flows through a cow pasture,
a most unlikely place to find an Ibis. After seeing the alert on the birding hot line,
I went there on the morning of August 2, 2008 and was able to get these photos.
