Grand Canyon - South Rim and Havasu Canyon

The Grand Canyon was the final leg of our trip. From Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness we continued to Page where we made a stop at the Glen Canyon Dam and visitor's center. On the way out of Page we made a short detour to see the Horseshoe Bend in the Colorado River (a few miles outside of town and a short walk to the rim).

After a drive across the Navajo reservation with stops at road side stands for souvenirs, we made it to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in time to snag a site at the Desert View campground and watch sunset. The next day we hit some of the viewpoints along the rim as we drove to the village area. We visited Kolb Studio (my favorite), attended a ranger talk about condors (and spotted condors!), walked along the rim to Mather Point, and rode the shuttle out to Hermit's Rest.

We spent the night in Seligman, AZ (old Route 66) and headed to Havasu Canyon on the Havasupai reservation the next day for a three day backpacking trip. After seeing countless pictures of Havasu Falls it was nice to finally see them in person. All the waterfalls we saw were gorgeous, but I do have to say that the whole experience left something to be desired (details about Havasu added to the pics below).
