A week-long holiday break in November 2015, visiting Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Hopes for the revival of tourism in the after-the-earthquake post-monsoon season partly thwarted by the fuel crisis. In Pokhara we saw kilometer-long queues for petrol (those closest to the pump had been waiting for about a month, we were told), and big pipal trees cut for fuel wood. In Kathmandu the trafic jams disappeared and the air was much cleaner than usual. Still, most internal flights operated normally, some taxis operated (although the fares were roughly twice that from previous year), restaurants were open (although the menu was usually restricted) so that - at least from a tourist point of view - life was pretty normal.
