Kangchenjunga (8586 m) is the third highest mountain on the Earth. Kangchenjunga Himal is located in eastern Himalaya, in Nepal and Sikkim (India), with the main peak located exactly on the border between the two countries. In Nepal the region is only very slowly becoming popular with trekkers, mostly because of the rather complicated access. After flying to Biratnagar, one has a choice between (rarely available) option to fly to Suketar or (usually) a torturous bus ride to Taplejung. The trek to Kanchenjunga north base camp starts at rather low altitudes (c.a. 900m) reaching Pangpema at 5100m, thus going through almost all climate zones. The scenery is spectacular, although the generally hot and humid climate means that the high mountain views at quite often obscured, especially in the Spring. My trek, in April 2013 was organized by Exodus Himalaya Treks & Expeditions
