The trek around Manaslu (8163 m) in central Nepal has become a very popular in recent years. In a sense it replaced the classic Annapurna circuit, after the latter lost some of its appeal due to road constructions shortening the typical Nepal Himalaya trekking experience.

The trek is not too difficult (although you do climb up to c.a. 5100 m to cross Larke La), the lodges are quite comfortable, with hot water and internet access in almost all the villages.

We did the trek in the spring, late April-May of 2025. Late spring means fewer trekkers than in the main season, warmer weather and blooming rhododendrons, but also less clear sky, clouds obscuring the views quite often, and rain on some days.
