Kali Gandaki river is one of the major rivers in Nepal, cutting through the Himalaya range in central Nepal, between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. Kali Gandaki valley is sometimes considered the deepest gorge in the world, because of the 5000+ m elevation difference between the valley floor and the two 8000+ m peaks. Marpha is a small town in the Kali Gandaki valley, best known for its apples and apple cake/pie/juice/brandy etc. Pokhara is the gateway town to treks in that region, e.g. Annapurna or Dhaulagiri treks.
