Totally disagree with the previous poster. The backgrounds here all work in very different ways. Notables: the Boracay Beauty shots are really stunning; Kissed by the Light is just amazing.
Your tight portraits are evocative and definitely suggest mood and emotion. Be careful, however, to use techniques such as high key lighting and duotones to help make your point resonate. If the technique has nothing or little to do with the point of the picture -- in this case the essence of the person herself -- don't use it. Play it straight.
The shot that works the best here, in my view, is Borocay Beauty III, because content and and form blend to tell us who she is. In the others, your techniques often seem to function as extra "wrapping" that dilutes, rather than intensifies meaning.
