Bought it the first time in Sept 12th 2005 when I found an incredible deal on one. It showed up for sale with lens brand-new at Craigslist.Org for only $500. It normally sold for $800 at the time. It seemed too good to be true, but I checked it out & it was legitimate. I managed to upgrade to this at only a $100 "penalty" over the old Canon D-SLR gear.
The D50 was being sold in Phoenix and on Wed 9-14-2005 I met the owner halfway in Casa Grande to see it for myself & purchase it. I enjoyed shooting with this camera immensely. I loved this SLR, and owned it for 21 months only to reacquire it again 3 months later.
In June 2007, I sold some bits & pieces to try out the Nikon D40, the D50's successor, fully figuring on keeping both bodies and using the D40 specifically for "portability purposes" since it's smaller. I ended up using the D40 fully I liked it so much, and financial concerns existed at the time, so I sold the D50. I didn't regret it all that much at first, but ultimately did and when the opportunity arose picked up another one on 9-27-2007 (largely made possible due to a profit I made buying another camera, the Fuji S2 Pro, and selling it for 375 after paying only 200, nearly 2-1 profit). I ended up selling that body (Dec 2008) intending to upgrade to a D80 or D200, didn't, got a 3rd body, sold it for a 4th one in more mint-shape (still Dec 2008), then finally "settled down" when I sold it to upgrade to a low-priced D80.
