Grassbirds (Locustellidae) is a family of around 55 species of small insectivorous songbirds. They were formerly placed in the Old World warbler (Sylvidae) family. The bulk of the family is made up of the Locustella "grass-warblers", grassbirds, and the Bradypterus "bush-warblers", toether with a few odd species. They occur mainly in Eurasia, Africa and the Australian region.
Most species are drab brownish or buffy all over and many have bold dark streaks on wings and/or underside. Most live in scrubland and frequently hunt food by clambering through thick tangled growth or pursuing it on the ground.
