It was built in 1912 and renovated in 1985 as a memorial hall to exhibit the history about the struggles for independence of Malaysia. The first prime minister of Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj announced the Declaration of Independence in this building on 31st August, 1957.
