A repeating of built and destroyed was occurred many times in A Famosa. In 1512, Portuguese built this fort to defend the army of Sultan of Melaka. In 1641, it was collapsed by the attack of Dutch.
The Dutch rebuilt it in 1670. In 1807, the fort was damaged by the cannons and bombs of British navy.
