Welcome and thank you for visiting my auction.
I am very pleased to present Wisakecah a Mud Fairy in the "We are young at Heart" series.
This figure was inspired by a very special old man I met when I attended an event called Faerie Worlds. He was "very young at heart" for a 97-year-old man. He sat in a wheelchair watching everyone smiling and dancing around him. As I watched him, I saw how happy he was and that made me smile. I hope that this piece will visually share with you how I saw that wonderful old man surround by smiling dancing fairy people.
His Story
Wisakecah is a mythical mud Fairy with many powers. He is from the Earth he loves to be in the presence of the animals, plants, and rocks and he loves to dance barefooted in the mud.
There are hundreds of stories told about his grand old age and great wisdom.
He appears in the fall of each year when the earth is getting ready for her long winter sleep.
Wisakecah has the ability to change shape and can become anything that he has a notion to.
It is said that he can change into an animal and guide them to where they should go for the long sleep of winter. It has also been told that he will shape-change into the flower of a plant to give a butterfly or needy insect a place to rest preparation for the winter ahead.
Wisakecah also has a mischievous side using his humor to play jokes and tease the other fairies, confusing them by jumping up and down, dancing, and twirling his cane bouncing it off the ground then while changing his appearance he disappears with only his musical laughter ringing in the distance. Which creates laugher amongst all the other fairies in the land.
Due to these mischievous games he likes to play, the stories of the great mud fairy carry on throughout the land because no one has ever seen him in his true form, they can only imagine what he truly looks like as they tell the Wisakecah stories through their own creative imaginations to all the young fairy hatchlings.
Wisakecah the mystical Mud Fairy loved by all, old and young alike.
He has been hand sculptured from Puppen doll polymer clay and baked at the manufactures specifications. He stands 5 inches tall and is proportionally correct.
All of my works are hand sculptured with no use of any molds what-so-ever.
Wisakecah has many wonderful accessories added to enhance has his character.
His eyes were inserted and then hand painted by the artist. His face has been meticulously sculptured to show off his character and wisdom with every tiny wrinkle and line upon his face. He has a mischievous little grin that only those who take the time to see will find, yet his eyes seem to speak to lovers from so many years ago. . . .
I have sculptured tiny lines and wrinkles to accent the character of his toes, feet, fingers, and knees as well. I have given him even more character by sculpturing old man skin on his arms, chest and leg area. To enhance his personality and character, even more, I have lightly wash painted his body with heat paints to give him the look of a fairy who has been under the sun for many many years. I have ever so lightly blushed him on his cheeks to give him a glow of happiness, and lightly blushed him on his forehead, shoulders, chin, and other areas where I felt he has been touch by the sun. Wisakecah hair is soft Tibetan lamb hair placed sparingly upon his head.
His clothes are all handmade by me. His little tuxedo is made from soft cotton in a beautiful black/burgundy floral pattern and has been lined with fine felt. His tuxedo has lovely bronze colored buttons that are very fitting for a fairy gentleman like himself, as are the buttons that accent his tails on his tuxedo. Like most mud fairies they do not care for sleeves on their coats or tuxedo, but rather prefer them sleeveless.
His shorts are also cotton in a wonderful stripe line green pattern and his belt is made of fine felt which has been accented with a bronze belt buckle.
Upon his head, he has a gentleman top hat that has been made from fine felt and is adorned with a forest flower and a feather, which I am sure he found while out walking in the forest. His hat is not removable.
Even though mud fairies love to be barefoot, Wisakecah likes boots for those long walks he enjoys taking under the moonlight. His tiny little boots are made from soft leather. I have accented them with a little mud and they can be placed on his feet. They have laces that can be tied together and hung over his shoulder.
Wisakecah also has a walking cane for those long walks under the moonlight, but I think he carries it to show off his gentlemen qualities to the lady fairies. His cane has been accented with a feather, gold leaves, and a bonze button at the bottom of the cane. I have painted it a lovely lime green and sparkling burgundy, with a sparkling burgundy handle.
Wisakecah has real Cicada Wings that I have hand painted in colors of lime green and sparkling burgundy and blues using a technique that allows the beautiful colors to shine through in the natural light. I have added some very fine details to these wings.
Wisakecah’s display base has been accented with leaves, egg acorns and dried stems which have been accented with color. There is also mud at his feet with little tiny footprints. I made this mud out of a technique by combining two mediums, it will not come off or flake off. Wisakecah has been signed and numbered and comes complete with a signed and dated pictured certificate of authenticity.
I want to thank you all for your wonderful support. I truly appreciate all your comments and support. I have included all the WIP pictures. You can view the start to finish of the doll by clicking on the following pictures.
