Wisakecah of Creations of Mysticism by Artisan Kassity Allison Wins Doll Reader Magazine’s Prestigious 2008 Doll of the Year Industry’s Choice Award.
Boston, Mass.: On Friday, Jan. 25 at IDEX Premiere in Orlando, Fla., Wisakecah by Creations of Mysticism by Artisan Kassity Allison was awarded the 2008 Doll of the Year® (DOTY®) Industry’s Choice® award. This program, originally created in 1985, celebrates dolls of exceptional design and manufacture and remains one of the most prominent events in the industry today.
“Doll making is a venerable art form that has grown and changed over time without losing its sense of wonder,” says Joan Lynch, editorial director of Doll Reader magazine. “This year’s DOTY winners epitomize the combination of craft, emotion, and beauty that marks so much of that art form in today’s doll culture. We think that it’s essential to recognize the contributions of talented individuals and companies that define the concepts of innovation and beauty in our industry.”
For this competition, dolls were entered into 16 different categories, depending on medium, edition size, etc. A panel of industry experts gathered at IDEX Premiere to take part in the judging process, which ultimately narrowed the field to 79 extraordinary dolls. “We’re grateful that Creations of Mysticism by Artisan Kassity Allison created this doll, and we thank our judges for their work in selecting Wisakecah from among the scores of delightful entrants,” says Lynch.
These dolls, the winners of the 2008 DOTY Industry’s Choice awards, will now go on to compete for the 2008 DOTY Public’s Choice® awards. Ballots can be found in the May 2008 issue of Doll Reader magazine. All ballots must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2008 to be counted. DOTY Public’s Choice winners will be announced in the September 2008 issue of Doll Reader and on the Doll Reader Web site at www.dollreader.com.
