The Lone Hibiscus
My Aunty Mary told me her Hibiscus only produces one flower at a time, so I got my camera out!!
Georgina's Run
My daughter is running The Great North Run in two weeks in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
I said I would only sponsor her if she posed for a picture as well as ran the race!!
She gave in but on condition I waited until she was dressed up for her night out!!
So the deal was struck!!
Her sponsorship link is

Walk Of Life
My Cambridge Pbase Meetup gallery is now complete. This one of charity walkers was the last to be processed.
What a bonus to find the butterfly in the shot! Perhaps I'll get back to commenting now!
Apologies to everyone who kindly comments but who I haven't got back to!

On Which The Sun Never Sets
My entry for the T.I.T.C - this week's theme is 'A Touch of Colour'.
There was only a touch of colour in the sky moments before, and the flag was the only
colour in the street. Still, they do say "moderation in all things - especially moderation"! LOL

Test Shot
Last night was our (6th) annual family group photo - more details later.
This was a test shot. It was disappointing to realise the 30D does not have a remote controller
available for it. So I was thankful to still have the 300D and RC-1.
Have a good weekend everybody. I hope I'll catch up on commenting once work is done!!

Night Moves
I've no idea how the musical notes (top left) came about, although there is a blur effect
due to the flimsy tripod I used!

I can't believe it's almost one year ago that I was heading for the USA and
Martha's Vineyard!
Thanks to Karen Leaf for the 'Chilmark Pond Photographic Society' hat and shirt!!
Hope you CPPS guys enjoy your weekend! (BTW - TWD was last seen heading North to bandit country!!)

Its now or never,
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
Its now or never
My love wont wait.
When I first saw you
With your smile so tender
My heart was captured,
My soul surrendered
Id spend a lifetime
Waiting for the right time
Now that your near
The time is here at last.
Its now or never,
Come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
Be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
Its now or never
My love wont wait.
Just like a willow,
We would cry an ocean
If we lost true love
And sweet devotion
Your lips excite me,
Let your arms invite me
For who knows when
Well meet again this way

Singing In The Rain
Sorry for such a corny title but that's what this guy did beyond the call of duty,
singing Bob Marley songs in the heaviest of rain today while we were in Bath with Tom and Stephen Darby.
Tom - it was great to meet you again and spend a 'bizarre' day and evening with you.
I am so sorry the weather was so appalling but I think we made the very best of it and
had plenty of laughs along the way!! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Transatlantic Visitors
We were very pleased today to welcome
Tom Darby and his son, Stephen, to England and Wiltshire.
Just hoping the weather will improve in the next few days!

102 Days
I have finally caught up on my backlog of processing - so this is from my Poland visit.
It made me think of Madeleine McCann and her poor parents who have had to endure not only
her loss, not just uncertainty but the distasteful harrassment from parts of the media and sad individuals.
I just hope it all turns out for the best for them.
Other uploads today:
My Maternal Grandmother - Alice Louise Freakley
I have spent the afternoon sorting and scanning old family pictures and negatives.
I am really pleased with the scanning quality from the Canon MP830 printer.
Although, I don't have the hours available to touch them up properly.
This is where she was brought up:

Don't Worry Be Happy!
Don't Worry, Be Happy
From the Movie "Cocktails"
Performed by Bobby McFerrin
Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Ain't got no place to lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy
Lood at me I am happy
Don't worry, be happy
Here I give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I make you happy
Don't worry, be happy
Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got not girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy (now).....
There is this little song I wrote
I hope you learn it note for note
Like good little children
Don't worry, be happy
Listen to what I say
In your life expect some trouble
But when you worry
You make it double
Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon past
Whatever it is
Don't worry, be happy

Summer Hike
Went for a nice hike on the Wiltshire downs. It was just so wonderful
to feel the sun and warm breeze and be in all that space!
I seem to be increasingly drawn to fences at the moment, and barbed wire in particular.
I can feel a new gallery coming on!

Importance
If you have this sort of nonsense at the entrance to your property you clearly
think you are important! One of the recent owners of this property was a close
friend of Margaret Thatcher.

The Friends' Meeting House, St Giles
Waterfall Near Hartland Quay
I enjoyed a superb day out with Lee, Nicky, Ann, Bruce and Helen deep in the West Country.
The rain held off and the sun appeared once it was time to head home - but we had a bracing walk
and Nicky found us some lovely 'clotted cream' ice cream!!

A wet hay-time up on the Wiltshire downs!
The flooded haymaking in England seems such a contrast to the Australian drought!
Guitar Body
After taking my daughter to Gatwick Airport, I spent the day in London with
Ray and, after an unexpected encounter(!),
Nicky.
In between showers, we finished up on the South Bank looking at the display of Gibson Guitar sculptures.

The Thunderbirds are the USAF air display team - and they are amazing!
This shot is not a trick - those planes really are that close and flying at 400 mph!!!!
Taken at today's Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire.
A few more pics from there still to process. Meanwhile to see how it looked with the sun out,
please visit the maestro,
Neil Nordic, who was there Saturday. His pictures are so sharp! dammit!
Cherhill Down
I have been having an Internet nightmare! - nearly 48 hours offline -well as good as!
Work is falling behind and I'm so sorry I haven't commented back to all those kind Pbasers
who have been so generous on my pictures.
I had to travel to Swindon to find wifi available somewhere suitable for working!
Took this the other night - but it will look like this later this evening!!
Wiltshire is wonderful! But it's a secret, so don't tell anyone!!

Bit of a rush upload. Sorry I haven't been commenting much lately.
Another early start tomorrow.
Movin On
I sometimes delude myself that beneath this boring exterior, I am actually a Rock Star!
And who better to be than my hero, Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company)?
My favourite Bad Company track, 'Movin On' describes the feeling of freedom that fuels my delusion, or perhaps I should just have been a pilot!: (The song rocks too!)
I get up in the morning and it’s just another day
Pack up my belongings, I’ve got to get away.
Jump in to a taxi and the time is gettin’ tight
I go to keep on movin’ I got a show tonight
Mmmm,
And I’m movin’ on, movin’ on from town to town
Movin’ on, baby, yeah I’m never touchin’ the ground. Yeah.
I check into the ticket place with half an hour to go
headin’ for the boarding gate I’m feelin’ pretty low
Fifteen minutes later, I’m sittin’ on my plane
fastened in my safety belt I’m takin off again
And I’m movin’ on, movin’ on from town to town
Movin’ on, baby, yeah I’m never touchin’ the ground.
And I’m movin’ on, movin’ on from town to town
Movin’ on, I can’t seem to stop now.
I got to move on, move on from town to town.
I got to move on, I never seem to slow down.
Oh, I got to move on, move on from town to town.
I got to move on, I never seem to slow down.

Lansdown Monument and Hercules
Just caught the briefest of late sun between the storms.
A Hercules plane from RAF Lyneham was practising circuits.
I have to own up to a little PS jiggery-pokery though to have got the two together!!
