I have been planning a "Rocking Chair" business to give me some income when I retire. This combines my hobby of motorcyling with a means of buying more equipment to do a better job. I like to have vintage equipment that can be used, so I try to make my projects as ridable as possible. There is no reason why you can't have a reliable vintage bike. Of course this means a total tear down and repair of problems, new seals and gaskets.
So what do you restore? You want something that is historically significant, or otherwise collectible. In other words something that scratches some kind of an itch--or brings back memories.
Why "Deadhorse Cycles?" I came up with the idea on my trip to Deadhorse, Alaska--the ultimate end of the road. Deadhorse cycles: when your bike has reached the end of it's road, or you want to ride it there.
So enjoy, I will try to put some pictures in that show what goes into a restoration.
Thanks for the pics. I was able to identify the Yamaha YG1 that neighbour gave me after the shed it was in collapsed. The bike just lost part of the tail light lense and a signal lens. I will have to try and find them now. Keep up the good work
