Different land and different cultures. Was fortunate to be able to spend some time in a couple of Himba villages while in Namibia. The Himba are an ancient tribe which are cattle raisers and nomadic in nature, having to move as cattle need new grazing areas. The women, who never bath, apply a red ochre powder which they crush, and mix with butter to apply to their skin and hair twice daily. This gives them their iconic red appearance. Use of aromatic herbs add a pleasing scent to their sleeping blankets and huts.
