Srinagar

Srinagar is the summer capital of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The city is in the centre of the Vale of Kashmir, lying on the banks river Jhelum. Srinagar is criss-crossed by lakes, canals and bridges and is surrounded by beautiful Moghul gardens. At the edge of the city lies the famous Dal Lake (8Km by 4Km) which houses the numerous houseboats. The houseboats, dating back to the British period, are an experience in themselves for the visitors with all the amenities and luxuries on board.

Nannavati needs to be updated. Rinchen (the Budhist King) who reverted to Islam followed by his huge majority Budhist and Hindu subjects did not need these temples anymore and were instrumental in allowing these to ruin with the passage of time. The new temples under the rules of Muslims are there up and running and no one has ever damaged them. Nannavati has no case to cite that would compare with Babri Mosque and we do not need any historical evidence to prove that. Moreover, he should visit this beautiful piece of architecture, a mosque 100% marble just opposit New Delhi railway station and find out who lives there and this might open his eyes. OR just visit interior of south Delhi where he can see scores of Mosques occupied and turned into breeding ground for buffalos and cows. Rest is all fine in secular India. Ameer

From all the postings on this web site it appears that a concerted effort is on to wipe out the kashmiri bhata from history, culture and the very memory of kashmiris ( who happen to be here only the muslims). Look in and look back.

Missing out the Shankaracharya temple and the Hari parbat hill is a serious defficiency unless it has been done on purpose. The ruins mentioned are of the 9th century Avantiswamin temple( temple of Lord Vishnu) built by Raja Avantiverman.

HI hANIF, I am from Srinagar.These pictures remind me of my younger days.You mentioned ruins.But you should have stated these are ruins of an ancient Hindu temple.There are lots of ruins in Matan,Anantnag,Awanttipore etc.Also there is a temple on hill called Shankaracharya overlookind Dal Lake.There are many temples in Srinagar.Please take your times to display those temples.
