Every once in a while I'm intrigued by how something was made and Morro Bay, California, provided a great example. On the walkway above the bay, right downtown, is a (bronze?) sculpture of a classic Ford truck bench seat, complete with missing seat material, crumbling cushioning, engine parts, Ford embossing and a dedication to "Thanks Nick... 1946 - 2008". It is accurate down to the texture on the leather seat covers. Now I just want to know how it was produced. I stopped by the sculpture every day for several weeks and just couldn't leave it be. I couldn't find anything on the internet about the history, but I'll be in touch with Morro Bay to see what they can tell about it.
