<< Tree Removal >>

We had a tree at our new home that leaned toward the south end of the house where two bedrooms are located. I could just picture a high wind storm, which we do have, coming along and causing the tree to fall, or else an ice storm that would bring limbs or the whole tree down on the house. Problem solved! I had the tree removed. It was fun to watch the pro's do the job. They got it down in short order.

<< The Strange World of Women's Shoes >>

I thought that I would photograph the wide variety of women's shoes that I see in store windows. We will see how well this goes.

  << Abstracts in Ice >>

I have always found delight in the abstracts one finds in ice formations. Another of the wonders of creation. I am not the Artist! I merely record what is there!

  << Miscellany - 2012 >>

Here are just some of the images I accumulated during 2012 and never got a chance to post. This is still only part of them.
I enjoyed every one of them and thought I would share them in a gallery on the last day of the year. Hope you browse the gallery.

Snow Scene on a Rainy Day
Saw this on my morning walk, and thought the local Citizens Bank had a nice snow scene on the front doors.

Through the windows you can also see the green lawn behind the building. We have vivid greens right now.

This is all the snow we need this year! :)

  Lamplight
This is sort of a mystery image. A lamp shines in darkness, true. But what about the shape it is within? Is it a window, or what else could it be? One of the commenters has itcorrect already.

Yes, it's all done with mirrors!

Carol has a nice collection of plates from Germany and elsewhere. It would be nice to include more of them here as we improve our techniques for photographing them.

  Early Morning Snowfall
Overnight, we had a snowfall. I went out early this morning to get a picture of it.

A passing vehicle provided the light I needed to show the falling snow.

We ended up with 5-6 inches on the ground.

  << An Edible Arrangement >>

Our middle daughter and her family sent Carol a beautiful gift, like a flower bouquet but an "Edible Arrangement." It's delicious. :)

  << Ice Studies >>

We have had below freezing weather for several days. So the ice has played games with designs. Some of them were simply awesome. I enjoyed studying them and getting some photos. I hope you enjoy them too. We ought to recognize and appreciate the design in nature.

Edenvale Grade school, one room for all eight grades
    D3-030509_117.jpg

Would you believe that this is an old one-room schoolhouse, one where I spent the 1st and 2nd grades?

It is true, that was back in 1942 and 1943. The school served all eight grades in the same room.

The old building is on private property now and sits behind the owner's home.

I got a lump in my throat, I have fond childhood memories of living nearby on Edenvale Road, near Jasper, Oregon.
