Within a minutes’ walk from the Tünel exit and near the lower end of Istiklal Caddesi there is the Galata Mevlevihanesi Müzesi, a museum dedicated to the Sufi school of the Muslim religion. They are most widely known for the “whirling dervishes” performances, that are sometimes held here, and for which there is a dedicated room. I went here on a rainy December day with low light, and as the lighting is kept low to reduce damage to the objects, I had to resort to high ISO’s. I had to delete some of my pictures, and many are below par. I’ll keep them in place until, hopefully, at another occasion I can take better ones. The displays are of all sorts of objects that are more or less typical of Sufi’s like costumes, headgear, musical instruments, with many notices providing sometimes very detailed information. I will not provide all that information, if you’re interested you’d best do some googling.
