Melk

Day 2 - I got up early and had a quick breakfast, for I couldn't wait any longer. It had been my deep regret for two years that during my last short trip to Vienna I didn't get to see Melk, or I had not known much about it.

Since the first time I saw a photo of the Melk Abbey, I had been impressed with its magnificent exterior architecture, but I had not imagined the interior and the exhibition to be so extraordinary also. The most stunning part of it all, is the way they designed the lights and the sound, as well as the selection of colours, and the presentation to show you the history of this monastery, guiding you from yesteryears to nowadays. That was something totally unexpected. There were rain and sunny intervals all day, and the scary thunder was the loudest I ever heard all my life. I waited more than an hour and had to skip another town I had planned to visit, but it was worth it, because after all I made my way to the exquisite Melk Abbey.
