Great work Rob! Roberta

I for one vote for the real-life colors as presented. I'm a big fan (and taker) of photos like this that find ways to present dull, everyday scenes in an artistic way. If you start colorizing them, it takes away from the idea of there being beauty available everywhere you care to look. - bee1000

Actually I like the way Rob did it. But since we are having fun... (we could play with this photo all day... =]) -Byron

Normally I think oblique lighting like this helps the subject...but in this particular case it may make the image a bit less graphic. That's a minor nit, though - well seen & shot! (FWIW, I like the recolor/simplification as well. Especially turning the beige plastic look white!) -Ed Hahn

To promote the on-going discussion, Rob has agreed to me posting this - my quick attempt at improving on reality - "iso-fying" the image at the same time. It's a visualization of what I was suggesting in the first comment below:

I think it's obvious that I'll be liking this one :-) Certainly a lot of graphic elements in here.

If you changed the frame to white lines on the top and bottom only, cleaned up the device so that it looked brand new - this could be mistaken for being one of iso3200's images! Definitely graphic! The lighting really brings out the textures of the door(?) and brick wall, but it also reveals the not so neat brick work, which may weaken the image some. Also, to me, the color of the brick wall is unfortunate. Maybe one could try altering the colors of the photo entirely? --Olaf
