9 Galle, Matara and Tangalla

Photos of a stay at Galle and vist to Matara and Tangalla in the south of Sri Lanka in November 2012.
After driving down the west coast from Jaffna via Anuradhapura to Colombo, I went straight to Colombo's Maradana station and caught an express train to Galle. I stayed for three nights at Fort Printers, a boutique hotel centrally located in Galle's Fort area. From there I went to Matara by train and on to Tangalla by bus. Tangalla's rest house, built in 1774 by the Dutch, is one of the oldest in Sri Lanka. Today it is basically a pub, popular with local men.
I drove back to Galle along the coast road and saw the legendary isle of Taprobane, close to the shore.
From Galle I returned to Colombo by early morning train to catch my flight home.
