12th World Youth Day - France, 1997

World Youth Day is the world's largest youth festival. Every year, it is celebrated at a Diocesan level on Palm Sunday,
with a massive international gathering of youth in a "host city" (movable date) every 2-3 years.

Ariel (team leader), JR (navigator), Cariñoza (PR), Léah (group muse?!!), Atty. Bernie (legal), and Cynthia (education) make up "Les Aventuriers
de Manille Pour Jesu Kristo" - the official name of our tight-knit 12th WYD 1997 group. The 12th World Youth Day celebrations were held all over
France during the month of August, 1997 ... culminating with a series of activities and meetings with Pope John Paul II on the last week in Paris.

"Days in the Dioceses" (all over France) - August 14 to 18, 1997
"Days of Encounter" (Paris) - August 18 to 24, 1997
Pilgrimage/Tour (free time!) - August 25 to 27, 1997.

We just missed witnessing the aftermath of the death of Lady Diana Spencer that occurred in Paris 3 days after we left the country.
