Maximo V. Soliven Monument

Maximo V. Soliven (September 4, 1929 - November 24, 2006): Father of Filipino Columnists, Icon of Freedom and Fearless Journalist.

November 24, 2008 (Monday): The unveiling of a special commemorative monument in memory of one great Filipino Journalist and Patriot will take
place at 4:00 pm today - his 2nd death anniversary - in front of the "Aristocrat Restaurant" along Roxas Boulevard, Malate District, Manila.

A simple program was held featuring the following:

- Official unveiling of the monument sculpted by artist Julie Lluch led by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim & Ambassador Preciosa S. Soliven;
- Wreath laying led by Jon & Sara de Guzman with kids Maxine, Manolo & Monique;
- Blessing of the monument by Fr. Louie David, S.J.;
- Launch of "AVE TRIUMPHATOR! A Collection of Timeless Poems" by Max V. Soliven
with a sample poetry reading by his sister Mercedes Soliven David; and
- Response from the Soliven Family led by Max's brother Guillermo V. Soliven and wife Ambassador Preciosa S. Soliven.

This monument is dedicated by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim on November, 2008 to the Filipino people -
that they must faithfully keep the fire burning for love of country and God.
